Changing The Ratio: A Celebration of Gender Diversity in Media

This event is for everyone who values innovation, collaboration, and access to top-tier talent. We all play a critical role in shaping a more inclusive entertainment industry, and this is a unique opportunity to connect with diverse voices and expand your network. Despite making up nearly half of film school graduates, women hold less than 20% of key behind-the-scenes roles in top-grossing films and account for only 7% of composers in film and television. Organizations like AWFC, Film Fatales, and AEB are working to change this narrative by providing mentorship, resources, and platforms that empower underrepresented voices. A key focus of this event will be showcasing resources to help attendees identify and connect with qualified gender diversified talent, enabling industry professionals to hire inclusively and build diverse teams that enhance creativity and innovation.

The program will feature engaging panels, networking opportunities, and creative entertainment moments designed to inspire action and collaboration. Jennifer Hutchins, founder of AEB, shares, “This event isn’t just about networking—it’s about sparking ideas, building connections, and creating real change in the entertainment industry.” This is a chance to gain valuable insights, discover opportunities to collaborate with industry leaders, and walk away with actionable tools to shape the future of entertainment.

"I was guest speaking at an AEB event when a filmmaker asked a question about his documentary. I told him to contact me after the event because I could put him in touch with people who could help and he did. I’ve gotten to know more about the project and I’m going to help as I think the subject matter is important. But more importantly it also turns out he is an award-winning war photographer and cinematographer and I would never have known about his work if it wasn’t for the AEB event!! So thank you!!"
